Exam Rules

1. All candidates must sit for the examination at the centre unless prior permission has been obtained from LTE Operations for candidates to take the examination elsewhere.

2. No material which might be helpful to candidates must be visible in the examination room.

3. Candidates should be seated in candidate number order.

4. Any candidates not known to the centre must produce documents proving their identity.

5. Candidates must use the centre number and the individual candidate number shown on their Individual Candidate Statement of Entry.

6. Candidates do not take any bags, books, notepaper, tapes or recording equipment, or any other written or printed materials into the exam room.
7. Candidates must do all rough work in the test booklets which Edexcel provides.

8. Any unauthorised material must be handed in, such as mobile telephones, pagers, MP3 players, other products with text facilities, and any food or drinks.

9. Candidates must write in blue or black ink or ballpoint pen.

10. Any rough work should be neatly crossed through.

11. Correcting fluid, correcting pens, gel pens and blotting paper must not be used.

12. Candidates must not communicate with, seek assistance from, or give assistance to other candidates while they are in the examination room.

13. No candidate is allowed to change his/her level (as indicated on the candidate list), unless there are justifiable reasons for doing so.

14. Candidates are allowed five minutes before the test starts to complete the details on the front page and study the layout of the booklet.

15. The invigilator must then announce in English and/or the usual language of the centre:
“I shall now begin the tape which will play without stopping until the end of the Listening Comprehension part of the test.”

16. Any candidate who arrives after the start of the examination may be allowed the full time for the examination at the discretion of the Head of the Centre, if extenuating circumstances prevented the candidate from getting to the examination on time.

17. If a candidate is absent from an examination through illness or misfortune, then Edexcel will give the candidate the chance to take the examination the following session, or will give a refund.

18. Candidates should remain in the examination room for the full duration of the examination. However, a candidate who has finished his/her work and has been allowed to leave the examination room early must hand in his/her paper before leaving. The candidate must not be re-admitted. Candidates in the above mentioned circumstances must remain under supervision until at least one hour after the starting time specified on the examination timetable.

19. Candidates who leave the examination room temporarily must be accompanied by a member of staff. These candidates may be allowed extra time to compensate for their temporary absence.

20. No question paper may be removed from the examination room until the end of the examination session in the centre.

21. Failure to follow the regulations may lead to disqualification of the candidate. The decision on disqualification rests with Edexcel.

22. Five minutes before the end of the examination the invigilator should tell the candidates how much time is remaining.

23. At the end of the examination, candidates must stop writing.

24. The invigilator must tell the candidates:
to check that all the necessary information has been completed on the front cover of their scripts;
to see that their answers are correctly numbered;
to put any extra sheets of paper in to the relevant section of the question paper.
